Air Fried Chicken – No Oil, No Breading, but SO Good!

Fried Chicken.  What can I say?  It’s the bomb.  Crispy and delicious.  I don’t really “fry” anything at home anymore.  I save my fried food binges for outings specifically dedicated to fried food.  Like fairs, drive-throughs after a night out drinking,  fish frys, and church dinners (oh the irony….Corinthians 6:19).

So this isn’t really fried chicken in the sense of ankle swelling and vascular disease, but it is crispy, flavorful, moist, and da bomb!

I owe this meal 100% to Brittany Locher.  We had a night full of activities and I had nothing out for dinner, I was debating on stopping by BreadCo but then remembered her telling me about her air fried chicken that turned out amazing!  So we stopped by the store on the way home to get a chicken…which turned into a full-blown shopping trip.


The kids were so hungry by the time I got home and acting like maniacs, so I took 5 minutes to start the chicken before putting the groceries away.

Remove giblets from chicken.  Put chicken in air fryer basket.  Rub with sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, rosemary, and sage.  Dat is it.  I was so glad we didn’t stop at BreadCo and spend $43 on 2 turkey sandwiches and a salad.


While the chicken was cooking, chopped some broccoli, steamed it, and microwaved a sweet potato for our sides.  Gourmet meal right hurr.

Actually, back up a second.  The first thing I did once the chicken was cookin’


After 20 minutes, flip it to the other side and set air fryer for another 20 minutes.  Slaved so hard over this….


Impatient Hanky knows where I hide the gummies, trying to be sneaky while I’m busy cooking.


40 minutes and under 5 minutes of prep….beautiful.

Groceries put away, dishes done, laundry started, and kids still alive while this was cooking.


Fried chicken, broccoli, and mashed sweet potatoes.  Meal for five people who eat a lot made for under $10 in under an hour.  Yep.



  • whole chicken, thawed, giblets removed
  • 1/2 t sea salt
  • 1/2 t black pepper
  • 1/2 t garlic powder
  • 1 t rosemary
  • 1/2 t sage


  1. mix all seasonings together in small bowl
  2. rub chicken, skin on, with seasoning mix
  3. place chicken in air fryer basket
  4. add any remaining seasoning mix to top of chicken
  5. Set air fryer to 400 degrees F for 20 minutes
  6. After 20 minutes, flip chicken over and set air fryer for another 20 minutes at 400 and wait. #ilyairfryer
  7. Remove chicken from fryer basket and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
